COMPETENT INSTALLER TRAINING

A three stage programme – still under development.

Stage 1

Sample Method Statements – available now

These sheets have been devised to complement the manufacturer’s installation instructions which are sometimes necessarily compact in format as they are often provided on packaging.  As well as diagrams of the installation steps we point out key things to pay particular attention to. On each sheet we have included a list of the information which should be available to the installer before starting the job plus an equipment check list. To access these sample method statements, free of charge, simply logon with your email address on the home page and then click here. If you are not already registered with us you need to do that first.

Members of the Construction Fixings Association already supply - with the product - instructions for the correct installation of their anchors. More detailed method statements are also available from most of them on request. Most also offer on site training in how to install their products – go to the Who we are page for their contact details.

Stage 2

Training Presentations available on CD-ROM

Available for a nominal charge these CD-Roms covering groups of fixings such as “Expansion Anchors” and “Resin anchors” will enable companies to carry out their own in-house training but will not enable installers to be certified as “Competent”. This stage of the Training Programme is still under discussion, if it is of interest please contact us.

Stage 3

Competent Installer Scheme

The feasibility of this scheme is still being investigated but what we envisage is a one day training package leading to successful attendees being certified as competent installers. The course will comprise presentations and practical demonstrations covering the installation of anchor groups – as above. Again if this scheme is of interest please contact us. An additional module on the testing of anchors may be made available to cover Preliminary Tests - for the purpose of determining allowable loads for use in base materials of unknown strength, and Proof Tests - for the purpose of checking installation quality
