Approved Tester Scheme launched.
Following on from the success of the Approved Distributor scheme launched in 2008 the Construction Fixings Association is now launching a similar Scheme for companies it recognises as being competent in the important field of testing fixings on site. Companies may already be Approved Distributors or they may be specialist companies who do not sell fixings but have the required expertise in testing fixings.

The testing of fixings on site can be a vital stage in the process of confirming the correct specification of fixing for a specific base material (except when a fixing has an ETA in which case testing is unnecessary) or it may be needed to validate the quality of installation. In order that specifiers and contractors can located companies they can rely on for these services the CFA has established a scheme to accredit companies in 6 different categories following a successful application and proof of competency on the part of their staff (Competent Testers), evidence of appropriate calibrated test equipment and adherence to the CFA test procedure and reporting formats. Accreditation for General Purpose Testing in particular requires all potential Competent Testers to attend a training course which covers basic anchor technology as well as testing procedures, some of which have been developed by the CFA.
The new section on the website contains a full listing of all members of the scheme with outline details of their capability – full details, including the names of Competent Testers in each chosen category, are shown on the member’s own page with a link to their website.
