| First Approved Distributor Event |
The first Event for Approved Distributors, expected to become an annual fixture on the CFA calendar, was held at the National Motorcycle Museum on 25 September 2008. Attended by 32 delegates, including two from Ireland, the meeting gave an ideal opportunity for members of this exiting new scheme to exchange ideas and meet the principals and staff from the Full Members of the Construction Fixings Association. Phil Matten, Editor of Fastener & Fixing magazine, gave a fascinating insight to the factors influencing the global market for fixings. Steve Richards of 2K polymer systems ltd - shown here – outlined the recent developments in resin anchoring systems and Mark Salmon, General Manager of the CFA, introduced the members to the latest scheme for improving standards in the industry – the Approved Tester Scheme. This scheme, open to Approved Distributors and other companies who test fixings, will enable companies who can demonstrate that they have the necessary equipment and trained staff to be recognised as competent in this important aspect of fixings safety. It is expected to raise standards throughout the industry and is further evidence of the Construction Fixings Association’s commitment to supporting all stakeholders in the fixings chain. Training will be provided to all applicants to ensure that they are not only knowledgeable in how to test fixings but are also familiar with the key elements of fixings technology. The scheme is expected to become operational by 1 February 2009.
